Extending Your Brand

Case: The client needed a logo to represent a newly established institute dedicated to the development of research, education and safety programs for the lumber and building material industry. The logo needed to reflect this but without focusing on the industry too much.

Solution: Although there are lots of images that come to mind when thinking about this industry—such as nails, a hammer, wood, etc.—the approach to the design was to not be so specific that it would be limited to a certain tool or building material. But it also could not be too general that it risked looking like it belonged in the mortgage industry with a simple house image, which the client wanted to incorporate.

The final design incorporates a house image but with an architectural, gridlike feel to enhance the idea of building and constructing with its lines and stacked elements.
