“Her level of commitment, professionalism and dedication is commendable. The public feedback was astounding...One of our most talked about performances.”
—Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts
Dovie Thomason celebrates her Lakota Sioux and Kiowa Apache heritage through traditional stories learned from her grandmother—stories that inspire delight in the spoken word and respect for values passed on through generations of storytellers. An author, keynote speaker and award-winning recording artist, Dovie establishes a rapport with all ages, creating a climate where laughter, learning and respect dispel false images of the First Nations People of North America.
Dovie’s workshops and keynotes on cultural diversity, untold histories, ethics, cultural integrity and the role of stories in mediation have been featured at the National Storytelling Conference, the Society of Storytelling’s Gathering in England and Corrymeela Reconciliation Centre in Northern Ireland.
Three-time winner of the American Library Association Notable Recording Award and winner of Parents’ Choice Awards, Dovie Thomason has appeared at the National Storytelling Festival, Kennedy Center, Smithsonian, and in the PBS documentary, The Call of Story.
